Swiss National Day is August 1st. The day has therefore been a statutory holiday since 1891 and the country is in a festive mood accordingly.
We barbecue, hike and relax together. Along with the rest of Switzerland, the Engadin also celebrates this special day with a variety of events.
The Engadin communities offer a varied program - from the classic August 1st brunch on the farm to a concert on the alp, everything is included. We cordially invite you to take part in the various celebrations and look forward to toasting to Switzerland with you.
Information on the fireworks ban can be found further down on this page.
More and more people and communities are doing without fireworks on New Year's Eve for the sake of pets, wildlife and nature.

A cervelat from the grill is as much a part of August 1 as William Tell is to Switzerland. Grilling outside is made particularly easy for you in the Engadin. At the loveliest spots in the midst of nature, there are various fire pits with grill grates and firewood, all you have to bring is your favorite grilled food. Nothing stands in the way of the perfect August 1st menu.
However, please keep in mind the risk of forest fires here and respect the surrounding wildlife sanctuary zones.
