André Paul Piot was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1958. Soon after finishing a degree in law, he began his career as a manager and entrepreneur in Italy, working for international textile groups for more than twentyfive years.
During his numerous trips to Japan, he discovered the excellence of Japanese craftsmanship through his study of ceramics, wood, lacquer, paper, and calligraphy. To this day, his experiences with Japanese art and craftsmanship are a daily source of continued creative inspiration. Today, he lives in Engadin and works in his atelier in Sils Maria. Having practiced for years with most traditional painting techniques and mediums, he now devotes himself mainly to the creation of works in ink, both on paper with predominantly graphic expressions and on wooden panels polished with agate stones and adorned with copper, silver, and gold leaf applications.
