In the Corvatsch Park

«The raven» («Corvatsch» in Romansh) invites freestyle aficionados of all ages to follow suit and defy gravity. In the Engadin freestyle paradise – Corvatsch Park – pros, rookies and weekend warriors boldly face the varied setups, and when it comes to mastering obstacles such as the kicker lines, rails and halfpipe, creativity should take the lead. As a venue of the Freeski World Cup, the Corvatsch Park is also the perfect place to get inspired by idols of the freestyle scene when they flip and spin through the air with 540 Switch Corks or 1080 Backside Double Corks.

Off-piste

This ski tour of approximately two hours leads you to the SAC hut Chamanna Coaz at 2610 m a.s.l. that is surrounded by the peaks of the Bernina range and offers an impressive view on rugged glaciers. With its slogan «Geborgen – gletschernah – familiär» (sheltered – close to the glacier – homely) the hut is the epitome of charming lodge ambience. On its panoramic terrace, you can comfortably enjoy the sun (as well as homemade cake or a tasty barley-broth) while savouring the high alpine spectacle. You start at the Corvatsch summit station on the Vadret da l’Alp Ota piste, followed by a downhill run across a slanting band of snow and a short fixed-rope climbing passage over a steep ridge. After one more downhill run and a traverse you have reached the hut.

On snowshoes

Up on Furtschellas, you will find a circular trail with an extra level of convenience: the Furtschellas Lake Trail, marked with wooden posts throughout. At most you could lose yourself in the beauty of the landscape, but you will reach your destination even without a map and compass. All the same, it is important not to leave the marked trail! Starting at the Furtschellas-Chüdera middle station, you reach vantage points with magnificent views over the snow-blanketed valley, with its frozen lakes. After 1.8 km you arrive at a simple but cosy mountain restaurant, the Ustaria Rabgiusa, where you can fortify yourself with delicious local specialities before tackling the short ascent with fresh energy and heading back to the Furtschellas-Chüdera middle station.

In winter boots

The walk from Sils to Alp Prasüra offers captivating winter enchantment as it leads through snow-blanketed pine forests. The trail starts at Furtschellas valley station and requires a certain level of fitness, but afterwards you can relax on the splendid sun terrace of the delightful mountain restaurant ”Kuhstall”. As a reward for your efforts, enjoy a mouth-watering choice of local delicacies!
