"Art Public Plaiv" is a project designed to showcase contemporary art in public spaces in the region of "La Plaiv," which is located in the Upper Engadin between La Punt Chamues-ch and S-chanf. Here, an intense tourist presence meets traditional cultural practices. The artwork developed within the framework of "Art Public Plaiv" deals with the cultural and economic demands that shape public life. For "Art Public Plaiv," internationally recognized artists conceived works that bring to life the lines of conflict in local society. They pose central questions about the Upper Engadin public and its composition: Which people and which opinions come together in the holiday region? Which needs make themselves known? What is heard? The artworks stimulate new and contrasting ideas that encourage further conversation about what is traditional and what is foreign. The project is a collaboration between the municipalities of La Punt Chamues-ch, Madulain, Zuoz and S-chanf and also with the Walter A. Bechtler Foundation and the Institute for Contemporary Art (today, IFCAR - Institute for Contemporary Art Research) of the Zurich University of the Arts.
