Samedan owes its importance to its central location in the heart of the Upper Engadin: it serves as a transport hub for the Rhaetian Railway and boasts a small international airport. It is home to the legendary Chesa Planta and the new "vertical" Mineral Spa.
Samedan is also the economic and political centre of the region – but that is not all by far! The lively, picturesque village, with its impressive Engadin houses, has still retained its picture-postcard charm without appearing kitschy. The inhabitants (and two museums) ensure that Engadin culture continues to play an active role in everyday life.
The guided tour starts at the Tourist Information, and leads via the Schulhausplatz (general overview and information about the village) to the historic village centre, Sur Tuor, and then via Bügl da la Nina to the Restaurant Central (tour of the Sulèr). It finishes up by viewing the village church and the Chesa Planta before arriving back at the departure point.
