In the heart of the high-lying valley of the Engadin is the charming village of Bever, which does nothing more passionately than tell stories – with its hidden, enchanted corners, its narrow, winding streets and its quaint windows set deep into the thick walls of old, traditional Engadin houses.
And with its mighty, newly renovated church tower, which rises up towards the sky and boldly strikes the time – time th Donnerstag, 09. / 16. /23. Januar 2020at here seems to pass by at a more leisurely pace than elsewhere. Those seeking peace and quiet should make their way to Spinas, four kilometres away at the southern portal of the Albula railway tunnel. Whether on foot along the enchanting Fairy T(r)ail, by bike or in a horse-driven carriage along the road reserved for non-motorised traffic – here the journey is the reward.
However, beforehand it is well worth exploring the sights of Bever – best of all, on a guided tour of the village, individually from 5 people, which divulges some of the secrets of the village's history.
